Our company was started in 1999. We had previously been in the tortilla business for many years. My father had a company called "The Tortilla King" that had been in business from 1976-1999. My parents decided to retire and sold their business in 1999. I worked for the "corporate world" for a few months and decided to come home and open my own business. We started at my father's original location in downtown Victoria on Juan Linn street. We were at the "original location" and going to make the "original product" my father had made so our company name had to be "La Original".

In the beginning it was only my wife Marie, my parents, Saragosa & Lydia and myself running all the machinery and packing the tortillas. We started off small and fully intended to keep it that way. Once word got out that we were back in business, local restaurants were calling and requesting our product. We started to deliver in town only and it didn't take long for other restaurants to start calling. Today we employ over 30 employees and deliver to approximately a 120 mile radius around Victoria. We also have warehouses in Corpus Christi and San Antonio that deliver within those cities and surrounding towns.

I have two children Ryan & Marcus. They, like me, call our office home and spend a lot of time here. One day maybe they will take over and the family tradition will continue.
